WHAT IS GRACE?

Grace is God's unmerited favor. It means that we are undeserving of God's salvation.  We cannot earn it or buy it. 

Ephesians 2:8-9 

For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS 

All of us have broken God's Law (Ten Commandments).  

If we were to earn eternal life by keeping the law, then we would have to keep the whole law all the time. 

James 2:10

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all

 James 2:11

For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law

Since we can not keep the law out of our own strength, Jesus Christ has to live within us to help us keep it after we accept Him into our hearts. Jesus said to hang on to the two greatest laws. If you can do these two things than it is easier for you to keep the whole law. What are the two greatest commandments? One is to love God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. The second greatest commandment is to love your neighbour as yourself.

Matthew 22:35-40

Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."

"This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

GOOD WORKS=HEAVEN??

There are a lot of people who do many, many good works (and they are to be commended) but they have never received Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  They never got their sins forgiven. They are to be commended for their good works but their good works cannot save them from God’s wrath and God’s penalty which is death and hell.

Remember that "All have sinned(Romans 3:23)"! We may do good things but we still have broken God’s law over and over again. Only accepting Jesus alone will save us from death (which is hell) and give us eternal life (which is Heaven).

WHY DO WE NEED GRACE?

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

Our sin have seperated us from God. We are spiritually dead and we need forgiveness for our sins.  God is the only one who can forgive our sins and wipe our slates clean. He has done this through Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:8

But God commendeth his love toward us, and that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us

God is a holy and just God and sin must be punished.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

WHAT'S MISSING IN JES_S? 

If you realize there is something missing in your life and you have tried an assortment of things, (such as religion, money, sex, drugs, self-help books, career, and your own good works), but you still feel empty, you still are searching: You were created to have fellowship with God but sin has seperated you from God and the only way back to God is through Jesus Christ and by accepting his offer of forgiveness and everlasting life. God loves you so much and all mankind and he wants to make your life full and complete.

John 10:10

"I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly"
